What is HubSpot CRM Implementation?

Mackenzie | January 18, 2022 | HubSpot

Whether you've already purchased HubSpot or are considering making the switch to the powerhouse platform (Wait, What is HubSpot, again?), you're probably wondering what happens after you make that first payment. Once you have HubSpot, what do you do with it?

Lucky for you, we've written an entire Getting Started With HubSpot series that's dedicated to answering just that question. But, if you're looking for specifics, it's helpful to know that most quality HubSpot Solutions Partners offer two initial HubSpot services to get your company on the HubSpot CRM. They're known as HubSpot CRM Implementation and Onboarding

We've talked a bit about onboarding before, but implementation may be something you haven't heard of, so we figured it was worth giving you a bit more info.

In this blog, we're going to talk about what HubSpot Implementation is, what it will do for you, and what your team does after implementation to ensure you're still getting the most out of that new purchase.

What is HubSpot CRM Implementation?

HubSpot CRM implementation is the process of setting up your new CRM in the way that's most helpful for your team.

In its most basic terms, HubSpot implementation is designed to get all of the information your team needs from your old CRM, spreadsheets, old sales emails, and more, into one, centralized location that will house and track all communications between your team and your clients moving forward.

When you partner with a great HubSpot Solutions Partner, your HubSpot implementation is designed to ensure that we are setting up your new HubSpot platform in a way that is easy for your team to use, and that supports the most efficient marketing and sales process possible.

What Happens in a HubSpot Implementation?

Think of HubSpot implementation as your team's set-up step. Implementation is designed to move everything you and your team need into the HubSpot platform. If it's part of your daily operations, it should be part of your CRM.

And the best start to setting up anything is developing a plan for attack.  That's why a HubSpot implementation should always start with a call between your team and your HubSpot Solutions Partner

Discovery Call

At Evenbound, we start all of our HubSpot implementations with a discovery call. This is designed to get your team and our team on the same page, so our HubSpot experts can discover how your team works in order to set up your new HubSpot CRM in the way that is most useful to you.

We love the flexibility that HubSpot offers sales and marketing teams to set up their processes in the ways that best support them. But that flexibility also means it's important we understand your process before we start building your CRM for you.

In our initial implementation call, we'll work to discover:

  • What your team's goals are for the CRM
  • How your team currently works new leads and contacts through to sales
  • What efficiencies we can implement in that process
  • What information is most important to your team about a lead
  • What tools your team needs to communicate effectively with your leads, prospects, and customers

At its core, this implementation call is designed to help us understand how your team does things on a daily and monthly basis. Our goal with implementation is to mimic your existing process so that when your team gets into HubSpot, working a lead or a prospect is easy, intuitive, and fast.

HubSpot CRM Implementation

Once we've had our implementation call, it's time to actually get down to the nuts and bolts of implementation. One of the biggest benefits of working with a HubSpot Solutions Partner is that we have the technical knowledge and the capacity to do the heavy lifting for you.

During implementation, your HubSpot Solutions Partner will:

  • Import all of your contacts into the HubSpot CRM
  • Move over any tasks from an existing CRM
  • Mimic your existing sales process in the HubSpot CRM, including:
    • Setting up deal stages
    • Setting up your sales pipelines
    • And even offering some sales coaching if your team is new to deal stages or hasn't used a standardized sales pipeline before
  • Create any necessary marketing and sales templates

Implementation is all about getting the right things in the right places. While your team will have to do a little work just telling your implementation partner how you prefer to work leads and contacts, most of the heavy lifting is out of your hands.

Your HubSpot Solutions Partner will bring all of the information you need into your new HubSpot platform, in a way that best fits how you work.

How Long Does a HubSpot Implementation Take?

HubSpot implementation can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of your move.

For example, a small company moving from spreadsheets and email might take a bit less time than a large industrial service provider with hundreds of clients who is moving from Salesforce to HubSpot.

Timing will also depend on your team's availability. That first call is essential to getting started, but if your HubSpot Solutions Partner has small questions, they may invite a few people from your team to quick connect calls, just to make sure that all information is moving to the right places.

While implementation doesn't require much from your team in terms of time investment, having someone who is available to connect with your HubSpot Solutions Partner when needed can help move that implementation timeline along as efficiently as possible.

What Happens After a HubSpot Implementation?

Once your HubSpot implementation is complete, your team will have everything you need to work almost entirely out of the HubSpot platform. But having everything they need, and knowing how to use it are two different things.

If your team is already familiar with the HubSpot platform, they may be able to dive right in without any issue. But, in most cases, teams who maximize the value of their HubSpot platform opt for a HubSpot Onboarding session, where your HubSpot Solutions Partner not only shows them how to use it but trains every member on your team — step-by-step — how to work a lead from a cold new site visitor all the way through to a 5-star review.
